The Voicecel Voice Test is a fun, free online tool that measures your speaking voice frequency to determine where you fall on the viral Chad Voice Scale. Simply speak into your microphone for 10 seconds, and the tool calculates your median fundamental frequency (F0) in Hertz and assigns you a category from Gigachad to Voicecel.
The βChad Voice Testβ originated as an internet meme within online communities, where a deep voice is humorously associated with confidence and social status. While the test is designed for entertainment, it uses the scientifically-validated YIN pitch detection algorithm to measure your voice frequency accurately.

Gigachad Voice
Below 85 Hz
An exceptionally low, resonant voice that commands attention. Think late-night radio host or movie trailer narrator. Only a small percentage of men naturally speak in this range. If you landed here, your voice has a rare depth that most people can only achieve with post-production EQ.
Deep Voice Chad
85 β 100 Hz
A smooth, authoritative voice that people instinctively pay attention to. This is where professional voice actors and podcast hosts often live. Deep enough to project confidence, but still conversational and approachable. Many public speakers aim for the lower end of this range.
Chad Voice
100 β 130 Hz
Solid, confident, and pleasant β the sweet spot where the majority of adult men naturally speak. This is a healthy, normal male speaking range that projects warmth and reliability. If you are here, your voice sits right in the middle of the population distribution.

A lighter, higher voice that sits above the male median. Many factors β genetics, hydration, recording position, or even a cold β can temporarily push you into this band. Vocal exercises targeting chest resonance can help lower your natural speaking pitch by 10-20 Hz over time.

Tips for an Accurate Voicecel Test
- 1Find a quiet room. Background fans, traffic, or music can confuse the pitch detector. The cleaner the signal, the more accurate your voicecel test result.

How the YIN Pitch Detection Algorithm Works
Under the hood, the voicecel test uses the Web Audio API to sample your microphone at your device's native sample rate β typically 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz. The YIN algorithm, developed by Alain de CheveignΓ© and Hideki Kawahara at the Ircam research institute, is one of the most accurate pitch detection methods for human voice. Unlike simple autocorrelation, YIN uses a difference function that drops to zero at the signal's period, making it far more robust against the harmonics and noise inherent in human speech. We compute the median across hundreds of samples collected during your 10-second recording to filter out clicks, breaths, room noise, and any frames where you were not speaking β giving you a stable, repeatable Hz reading.
